Are you concerned that verge and grass cutting in the village and along our roads, is going a little too far? BTW, we do not argue for a total rewilding of the village, but for a balance between cutting and leaving it natural. Public access should be ensured by trimming paths, and trimming verges which create blind spots for cars.
- it often leaves loose grass cuttings which yellow with age and look unsightly
- it reduces habitats for insects and small mammals
- it removes attractive wildflowers which enhance the view
- it removes pollinating plants from the bee food chain
What do you think we should do?
The Plantlife good verge Guide and the good hedge guide give advice about the sensible trimming of grass and hedges.
